At this week’s meeting, Allen County Commissioners heard about a potential problem with debris wedged against the Marsh Arch bridge at the west edge of Humboldt. The Iola Register reports of concerns that it could eventually affect the integrity of the the bridge. It is one of only two means of crossing the Neosho River in Allen County. (7/13)

The Iola Rotary Club food drive is underway. You can drop off your canned or non-perishable items between now and July 27th at a number of locations. In Iola: Dollar General, The Feedlot, Community National Bank, Advantage Computer, Bolling’s Meat Market and Emprise Bank. Humboldt locations include: Emprise Bank, Stacy Cakes, and Community National Bank. In the Moran area, you can drop them off at Stub’s Market, Emprise Bank, Moran Locker, Emprise Bank or the City of Moran office. You’ll also be able to drop them off on Saturday, July 29th during Rotary Day at the Park at the Smokin’ Hot Cars and BBQ event. (7/13)
