In Garnett, USD 365 board members were recently reprimanded by the Kansas Attorney General’s office for recessing into private sessions during their regular meetings without adequate explanation.  The Anderson County Review reports that a patron filed a complaint in October 2016, accusing the school board of ignoring constituents’ concerns.  (8/11)
LaHarpe City Council members voted Wednesday to increase reconnection fees for electric and water customers who have had their services shut off.  The Iola Register reports that as of Wednesday, getting service restored will cost $100.  That’s $50 each for water and electric, which is double the previous fees.  (8/11)
The ANW Special Education Co-op is still having staffing issues as the start of school approaches.   The Chanute Tribune quotes Co-op director Doug Tressler saying that some positions may have to be filled with substitutes temporarily.  Some new hires who have recently graduated from college are still earning licenses for special education.  (8/11)
