Tonight will be the inaugural First Fridays in Chanute art fair in downtown Chanute from 5-9 pm. The Chanute idea started with a Facebook post to gauge interest in the event, and then a committee was formed. There will be free gallery space for artists to set up and food trucks will be set up along Lincoln Avenue. There will be music and vendors as well. (11/3)
It’s time again for the Humanity House Winter Clothing and Coat Exchange. They ask that you bring freshly laundered coats, hats, gloves and winter clothing items to the Party Girls building on the Iola square on Saturday morning from nine to eleven. Then, from noon to four, people can select items needed by their family. The event is free. (11/3)
Neosho County voters will consider a countywide sales tax on the ballot in Tuesday’s election to fund the ambulance service at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute. According to The Chanute Tribune, the question asks for a ¾-percent sales tax to begin April 1 and expire in 2028. The funds would make up for shortfalls in revenue in the service. (11/3)
For the sixth year in a row, The Light of LaHarpe Church will host a community Thanksgiving Day dinner open to anyone who wants to attend. Based on past crowds of over 100, organizers say they’ll need at least six turkeys along with volunteers willing to lend a hand preparing and serving the food. To volunteer, call Duwayne at 228-1829.
