The numbers are in for the write-in votes from last week’s Allen County election. County Clerk Sherrie Reibel reports that the city council position in Iola’s Ward 4 went to write-in candidate Mark Peters who received 17 votes. For Iola USD 257 Member District number 5, Jared Larkey received the most write-in votes with 12. In Marmaton Valley USD 256, the third at large position went to write-in candidate Jason Kegler who received 44 votes. For the Humboldt City Council’s Ward 1 Position 3, write-in Candidate Kent Goodner got the most votes. A vacant seat on the Moran City Council was open to a write-in candidate and Corliss Lynes received 9 votes there. The two remaining vacancies on the Savonberg city council went to write-in candidates David Janssen and Richard Barnum. (11/14)
Meanwhile, in Neosho County, Galesburg and Earlton need to appoint one council member each after write-in candidates did not receive enough votes to fill the open positions. The Chanute Tribune reports that the Thayer city council filled its three open seats with write-in candidates. (11/14)
A Greenwood County man was injured yesterday evening in yet another accident involving a deer in the roadway. The highway patrol reports that 56 year old Ronald Wilson of Hamilton was transported to Newman Regional Hospital after striking the deer 4 miles south of Olpe on K99. His passenger was not injured.
