After putting out an alert asking for help in apprehending a suspect, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office now reports that he is in custody. Former Iola and Neosho Falls resident Harvey Burris Jr. was being sought in connection with a stabbing Saturday morning in Greenwood County. The sheriff’s office reports that Burris surrendered himself at the Humboldt Police Department and was taken into custody by Allen County deputies. He has been booked in to the Allen County Jail on a Greenwood County charge of Aggravated Battery. (1/9)
Community Health Centers of Southeast Kansas will be providing services to Chanute USD 413. The Chanute Tribune reports that the proposition calls for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to be based out of the elementary school. It was stressed that services would be available districtwide. The social worker would not be a USD 413 employee, but would be able to work within the district to meet the behavioral and mental health needs of students. (1/9)
