Five people from Independence were killed in a plane crash Saturday morning near Ponca City, Oklahoma. According to The Montgomery County Chronicle, the identities of the five victims are Tim Valentine of Independence, Bill Warner of rural Independence, his son Nick Warner of rural Independence, and two of NIck’s sons. The airplane was registered to an aviation ministry owned and operated by Tim Valentine. The cause of the crash is still unknown.
If you plan to vote tomorrow and you live in or near Humboldt and LaHarpe you will have a new place to vote. The Register reports that Humboldt voters will cast their ballots at the Humboldt United Methodist Church, 806 N. Ninth St. The previous voting place had been set up at Humboldt’s First Baptist Church. Meanwhile, voters who had previously gone to the LaHarpe Senior Center now must cast their votes at the Gas Community Center.
