The Allen County Regional Hospital board of trustees has decided that it will retain control of the hospital by pursueing another management contract, rather than consider a lease. The Iola Register reports that the difference between the two comes down to control. Under a lease, an outside company controls everything that happens with the hospital. A management contract provides administration and services at the direction of a local board.
The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas has received national recognition from the Health Resources and Services Administration for providing high-quality care. CHC/SEK was awarded over $105,000 in Quality Improvement funding based on its 2017 achievements for improving quality of care and health outcomes, using health information technology to increase access to care and achieving Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition.
Allen County commissioners formally voted unanimously Tuesday morning to provide up to $335,000 to aid Humboldt in extending utilities to a 30-acre industrial tract. The Register reports that they had previously agreed to that amount. Humboldt administrator Cole Herder put together a proposal that made cost reductions after a request for a 50-50 federal grant was denied. Swapping local labor for contracted labor accounted for much of the savings.
