Neosho County Commissioners heard nearly two hours of comments on the planned Neosho Ridge wind generation project at Friday’s meeting.  According to The Chanute Tribune, Commissioners heard from residents both in favor and opposed to the project.  They also heard from representatives of Apex Clean Energy, the company that plans to construct 100 to 130 turbines on leased property in southwest Neosho County.  Some residents are concerned about falling property vales, noise and unsightliness.  Those who had signed leases urged commissioners to let the project move forward.
Former LaHarpe Police Chief Michael Duvall will receive a suspended jail sentence for three counts of sexual battery.  The Iola Register reports that as part of a plea deal, prosecutors amended the original complaint.  He will serve 12 months of supervised probation and have no contact with the victim.
